ASME SA789 S32205 2205 duplex stainless steel seamless heat exchanger tube is a duplex stainless steel containing 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, 5-6% nickel, and nitrogen. In addition to high strength and excellent impact toughness, it also has good resistance to general, local, and stress corrosion S32205 is very similar to S31803. The difference lies in the chemical composition. Usually, we use S32205 instead of S31803.



2205 duplex stainless steel is a type of nitrogen doped duplex stainless steel (referred to as 2205 duplex steel). 2205 duplex steel is a duplex stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum, and 4.5% nickel nitrogen alloy. Currently, there are various types of 2205 dual phase steel products in China, including welded pipes, seamless pipes, steel plates, bars, forged materials, and strips. Early duplex stainless steel can withstand moderate strength uniform corrosion and chlorine stress corrosion fracture, but its performance can be greatly reduced when used in welding situations. In order to improve this situation, nitrogen was added to 2205 dual phase steel, which not only improved corrosion resistance but also had good welding performance. It has high strength, good impact toughness, and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance.

1. Uniform corrosion: Due to the chromium content (22%), molybdenum content (3%), and nitrogen content (0.18%) of 2205 dual phase steel, its corrosion resistance characteristics are superior to 316L and 317L in most environments.
2. Local corrosion resistance: The content of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen in 2205 dual phase steel makes it highly resistant to point corrosion and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and acidic solutions.
3. Stress corrosion resistance: The dual phase microstructure of 2205 dual phase steel helps improve the stress corrosion cracking resistance of stainless steel. Austenitic stainless steel can undergo chloride stress corrosion at a certain temperature, stress, oxygen, and chloride presence. Due to the difficulty in controlling these conditions, the use of 304L, 316L, and 317L is limited in this regard.
4. Corrosion fatigue resistance: 2205 dual phase steel has high Corrosion fatigue resistance due to its high strength and corrosion resistance. Processing equipment is susceptible to corrosive environments and loading cycles, and the characteristics of 2205 are very suitable for such applications.
